Sunny Monday Cushion

It was in the height of our glorious Shetland summer that I began to suffer from itchy fingers so took out my hooks and sat crocheting on the front lawn listening to the sea lapping against the rocks and feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin .... now, that all seems so very long ago.

It's also a very long time since I finished the cushion cover but didn't have a pad to complete it, until this weekend that is, when my latest delivery arrived stuffed full of rugs and cushions - so here it is!

I just love the popcorn stitches around the edge and the colours match my patchwork quilt perfectly. It was made from the scraps from the flower afghan and blooming flower cushion from an earlier post

It's also fully reversible with more rows of those delicious little popcorn stitches!

A Little Thing, A Pretty Thing ....

When I was peerie my Grandma often used to ask me to solve the riddle "A little thing, a pretty thing, a thing without a bottom in, what am I?" and the answer was always a gleeful "A ring!!".

On Tuesday I attended my first SWRI meeting and the competition was 'Prettiest Tea Light Holder'. With only a couple of hours to go before the meeting I took out some of my new Drops Paris Cotton, a ball of Twilly's Twenty, a string of Swarovski crystal beads and a glass that I bought in a charity shop in Lerwick and got crafting. The result was a pretty, little thing, without a bottom in. I didn't win a prize at the meeting but I have the best prize of all, a little bit of homemade happiness for the dark & windy nights.
